“The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.” -Proverbs 18:21 You can use your words to create and shape the world around you, so stop speaking about how you feel and start speaking words life. “Watch your mouth!” Have you ever been chastised with that saying? What a reminder: we all need to watch what we say, how we say it, and who we say it to. The words we utter have power; they elicit praise or condemnation, approval or disapproval, life or death. If we show a lack of care to our words, we also show a lack of care towards people. We also run the risk of opening our mouths to foolish words, instead of allowing wisdom to rest on our lips (Proverbs 14:3). If we give ourselves to gossip or putting down others, privately or publicly, we undermine our own integrity. We are to speak and listen in love, spread the truth, and not kindle the fires of discord and resentment. Speaking and the use of our words can impact people and situations. Engage your mind in the process before you even speak a syllable. Filter it all through the Bible and as the Spirit of God directs you. Be intentional and not careless in your conversation. God’s Word prepares us for “the day of judgment [when] people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." (Matthew 12:36-37) "A careless word may kindle strife; a cruel word may wreck a life. A bitter word may hate still; a brutal word may smite and kill. A gracious word may smooth the way; a joyous word may light the day. A timely word may lessen stress; a loving word may heal and bless." ~Unknown Once you speak, your words can never be retrieved. Measure them carefully before you utter them. Speak life to those you encounter. This may be one of the most important verses in the whole Bible for me. This is the foundation of “the pen is mightier than the sword.” Everything that exists began as a thought and then was spoke into being. What God created and what we create through God. Think about that power... right? We think it... and the more clear the thought, the more solid it becomes. Then we begin speaking the thought. Saying it out loud. Talking about it, not as in a hope or fantasy but as if it already were. That’s how lies become true, when they are repeated so much that they are believed. And then become part of our story. That’s the power of words. Words can change everything in the world and everything in our life. Words can build and destroy. It’s so very important to know the power of the tongue and to use this divine power of God for creation of life and not destruction. There is a lot of power and might and strength and action from the tongue or the words it makes audible. It has the ability to decide on life or death prophecies, comments, pronunciations, judgements on its target. Those who love to talk must live with the consequences, results, successes, failures, hurt or joy it causes as well as the trail that follows you into history. The words that come out of your mouth is some of the most important words you. If the words came out of your mouth; they were in your heart long enough to brought you to the point where you speak about it. You need to be saying what God is saying about you. Control what you speak about yourself and pay attention to what you say: - Nothing works out for me - I feel rejected. -I’m not part of it Speak positive things and be grateful and thankful in every situation. What comes out of your mouth reveal the truth about yourself. Do you hear humility or pride, love or selfishness, greed or thanksgiving. Get to know yourself. You have more authority of yourself than anybody else. Make the enemy mad so he can fled away. Declare everyday how blessed you are. Psalm 100:4 stated for us to be thankful and to say so. Thank God from sunrise to sunset. Glorify him in everything. Words have power. Speak gratitude. - Today the Lord is my strength - I shall do warfare with my mouth. What am I saying to me?
