Welcome ladies and gents, take a seat the moment you've waited for is about to begin. The scene begins to unfold and people start to take their place. This is the beginning of a tale of epic proportions, an adventure filled with moments that cause tears and moment that cause laughter. A life-altering tale of heroic achievements and moments of downfall that have an intense sense of urgency.
Now doesn’t this sound like the perfect show? Well guess what, it is the perfect show. This show was written and hand-picked by the Author, just for you, and you've been invited to join the cast. He wrote it so you could be plugged into the plot, right in the middle, the main character. The role was specifically written with you in mind. This story is your life, that’s why God chose you to play the part. He put you here to be a testimony of His love and to tell His story to the world. Your part and invitation were planned before you were born.
However, we need to set the record straight. You are a member of the cast and your performance is important, but this narrative can’t be about you. The real star of our story, the real hero, is Jesus Christ. Jesus came to rescue the Earth and to restore the world, He came to save all people from their life of suffering and death. This story is not a fairytale, it is a nonfiction-fight-for-freedom and a true-love story. God gave us His Son, and Jesus gave His everything in one heroic act on the cross to give you freedom. When you say yes and accept your role in this story, you are accepting God's love and committing to telling others about the world's true savior, Jesus, and what He has done in your life.
That's your story, your testimony. You have been placed in this roll to be a light in the midst of all this drama, not to be a part of it. Someday, the final curtain will close, the final act will be over, and your part will be done, so tell your testimony as if this is the last time. Tell others how Jesus has become the story of your life.
When someone writes a script, they make up the story as they go along, but God does not do improv. He has a plan and a blueprint, and Jesus has been placed in the center of it since the very beginning. God’s script had a purpose, one to give people a way to know Him, way to escape pain, suffering, sin, and death, a way to have eternal life. Jesus' teachings defied systems that controlled people, the teachings of dictators and rulers. He conquered all the forces of darkness and He came to share a message of love, hope, and peace.
Sadly, the world rejected Him, to the point that they killed him, but that didn't end the story. Three days after Jesus sacrificed everything, and died, God brought him back to life. That is who gives us access to God, Jesus’ death and resurrection gave us a full backstage pass. In that moment, the minute you understand and embrace Jesus' story, is the moment that will impact your life and the moment you must share with others.
Now, timing is everything, that story is their ticket to abundant life and eternal freedom, and God is always on schedule. Your life at this time in history is important, God arranged for you to be placed in this world, He added you to His perfect script, and since you know Jesus, you have an assignment to complete: to tell others how Jesus' story has become the story of your life.
God is the one who wrote you into the script and he expects you to fill your role, join Him in his work and to ask Him to help you find your place within it. When you ask God to help you find your place and too fulfill what He’s already begun in your life, is what it means to pray with purpose. Since God's work in your life is your testimony, your prayers will be part of your story too. Remember next time when you pray, that your prayer becomes a part of your testimony and use it to strengthen your life, instead of using prayer as a quick fix.
Your prayer today becomes purposeful in your testimony, as you determine whom God is preparing to hear your Jesus story. So, prayerfully make a list today of the people in your life who don't know Jesus yet and pray through that list all during the day. Listen for God's Spirit to give you wisdom and wait for Him to push you to share the story of Jesus with them at just the right time and in just the right way, because He might choose someone completely different. Be prepared.
